Get Rid of Toenail Fungus

Toenail fungus is a condition usually affecting our toenails.  It isn’t absolutely clear how one can contract it or why some get it and others don’t.  What we know is the fact that men are more affected by it than women and the older you get the more like you are to contract it.

Once the little fungus critters embed themselves in the toes they are very hard to get rid of and often enough spread to other toes as well.  Proper foot hygiene, choosing breathable socks and shoes, keeping feet dry will lessen the chance of getting toenail fungus but it won’t prevent it.

aloe vera juice & aloe vera gel

If you know you have nail fungus and you don’t want to take prescription medication which often comes with unpleasant side-effects there are certainly alternative and natural remedies that will get rid of this stubborn fungus.  It will take a little longer but it is just as effective.

I am a firm believer in the powers of aloe vera juice and gel. Medical research in different areas of healing and my own personal experience convince me over and over again about the healing potential.  In addition, aloe vera is like a turbo charger in a car.  It isn't only an exceptional healing plant but it also offers other healing products a helping hand by boosting their healing capacity.

A person in my circle of friends had suffered from toe nail fungus and I asked him whether he was willing to try something out. 

I had read about the different alternative healing options for toenail fungus.  I read tons of articles referring to a foot soak in water and vinegar and using certain oils which were supposed to be rubbed into the nail bed and on top of the nails.



From my studies with aloe vera juice and gel I had learned that aloe vera contains anti-fungal healing agents.  In addition I also knew that a diet high in acids would allow fungus to thrive and survive.  Acids is what foreign invaders love. 

So I told my friend to do a half water, half vinegar soak on a daily basis as long as necessary.  The soak should last from 20-30 minutes.  I also asked him to eat more alkalinic food and to avoid food that would turn into acidic ash (sugar, bread, too much meat), to drink a glass of aloe vera juice daily and massage his toe area with pure aloe vera gel several times a day.

Within a couple of weeks we noticed that the new growth of toenail was white and not yellow anymore. I wish we would have taken before and after picture but it unfortunately did not cross my mind at that point.  But this whole regimen really wasn’t hard work at all.  On top of all that he said that he also feels a lot better as his digestion has improved a great deal as well.  So we cleared two problems with one try.

If you have toe nail fungus and you want to try a natural remedy you might want to try the aloe vera juice and gel method.  If you consider cohering to a simple acid alkaline diet which means that you will omit a bit of sugar and white flour and add some more vegetables and fruits your toes will clear up even faster. 

 

How to clear toe nail fungus

  • Soak your toes in a solution of 50% apple cider vinegar and 50% water.  Make sure you soak for at least 20 minutes.  Make sure you rinse off the vinegar afterwards and dry your feet completely.
  • Massage your toes and toenail bed with pure aloe vera gel.  Make sure you also rub some under your nails.  You may use a cotton swap for that. You may applay aloe vera gel onto your toes several times a day.
  • In addition to aloe vera gel you may also purchase some oil of oregano and add a couple drops to the gel before massaging it into the skin.  Oil of oregano is a natural remedy that even the ancient Greeks had used.  It is anti-septic, anti-viral, anti-bacterial and anti-fungal.
  • Toenail fungus is often a sign that our ph balance is off.  Consider a gentle body detox by avoiding the foods that cause too much acidic ash and enjoy the foods that promote an alkalinic environment.  A fungus loves sugar, for instance.  The more you feed it sugar, the less the chance you will get rid of it.  More on the body detox page on that.  You will not only help your toes but help your entire body.  Toenail fungus is often symptom of how your body feels inside.  It is often a sign that you need to change your dietary intake or make some minor adjustments.


Taking medication to clear up a fungus should always be your last option.  Try the foot baths and the massage combination of aloe vera gel and oil of oregano first for at least two or three weeks.  If you don't see much of an improvement, take a closer look at your dietary intake and reduce some of the food that would feed a fungus (sugar, white flour, pasta, soda pops, alcohol, milk).  Instead increase all the food that fights a fungus such as vegetables including potatoes, fruits, almonds, lots of water.  Limit meat and fish to three times per week.
